STREET MAINTENANCE NOTICE FOR OREGON AVE. BIKE LANE

April 23 – May 17, 2019

Streets Division crews will be performing Maintenance on the Oregon Avenue Bike Lane preparing for the re-opening on May 17, 2019.

Work to be performed: • Sign repair and replacement – ongoing (Bike Lane closure) • Delineator pocket repair and cleaning – ongoing (Bike Lane closure) • Lane striping, tentative .

May 14-16, 2019 (Bike Lane closure) (Weather Permitting) Most work will be completed during the hours of 6:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. The Streets Staff would like to thank our citizens in advance for proceeding with caution in areas where crews are working. Work may be delayed due to weather, equipment break-down or unexpected emergencies.

Klamath-raised filmmaker takes part in student outreach, film screening

When documentary filmmaker Skye Borgman graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1990, she felt destined for a life on the stage, far away from the Klamath Basin. After a lengthy journey in pursuit of her dreams, it turns out she can come home again.

Borgman took a short respite from her busy career in Hollywood this last weekend to visit with students at her alma mater and screen her latest film, “Abducted in Plain Sight,” at Pelican Cinemas.

Candidates forum for KCC education board Thursday

A total of eight people have filed for the Klamath Community College board of education. A forum to introduce the candidates to the public will be Thursday, April 25, on the campus starting at 5:30 p.m. The forum will be in Building 6, room 108-109. It will also be broadcast live at the Herald and News Facebook site: facebook.com/handn.

According to the Klamath County Clerk Rochelle Long, the last day to register as a new voter is April 30. One can register on-line at:oregonvotes.gov or come to the County Clerk’s office, 305 Main St. If you go to DMV, it takes 21 days for your voter registration to be complete, so if in doubt, please check with the clerk’s office or check your voter registration on-line at: oregonvotes.gov. You can update your registration anytime.

Klamath IDEA talk Wednesday features two local businessmen

Long-time Klamath Falls businessmen John Bell and Mike Angeli will be the speakers at Wednesday’s Klamath IDEA talk.

The event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at MC’s on Main.

John Bell is the president of Bell Hardware and Bell Installation. He has been employed with Bell Hardware since 1993, and became president of the company in 2000.  Angeli is the owner and operator of The Ledge Outdoor Store and The Yeti’s Lair Climbing Gym.

The Oregon Association of REALTORS® has named Debra Gisriel the 2019 Oregon REALTOR® of the Year, the highest award granted by the Association.

The award will be presented in Salem on Thursday, April 11 at the REALTOR® of the Year Luncheon held during the governance meetings of the Oregon Association of REALTORS® – a professional trade association representing over 17,000 members statewide.
