10 Fresh Seafood Markets On The Oregon Coast

By Nikki C

See you on the Oregon Coast!

Frozen seafood never tastes quite as good as wild-caught seafood fresh out of the ocean. The Oregon Coast, and the Pacific Northwest in general, is lucky to have some of the best, freshest seafood in the world, from Dungeness crab to Chinook salmon caught in our local waters.

These seafood markets on the Oregon Coast have everything from prepared seafood dishes, like homemade clam chowder and fish and chips, to locally caught seafood that you can take home and cook.

1. Barnacle Bill’s Seafood Market

2174 NE Highway 101 Lincoln City

Barnacle Bill’s has been a staple in Lincoln City since opening in 1949. They’re famous for their genuine wild Chinook salmon, which is smoked for a full day with locally-cut alder wood and then individually filleted by hand.

In addition to Chinook salmon, their other smoked offerings include salmon jerky, a smoked salmon dip, albacore tuna, sturgeon, and black cod. Seasonal options include halibut, seabass, lingcod, prawns, scallops, and oysters.

2. South Beach Fish Market

3640 S Coast Hwy, South Beach

South Beach Fish Market serves all the Northwest favorites we know and love. This includes clam chowder, fish & chips, and Dungeness crab, as well as seafood cocktails and sandwiches. Their fresh, smoked, and canned seafood are also available to purchase online by the pound.

3. Fish Peddler’s Market

617 SW Bay Blvd., Newport

Fish Peddler’s Market is a local favorite on the main strip in Old Town Newport. Classics like clam chowder and fish & chips make a great lunch, and you can take home some crab or shrimp for dinner, too.

4. Chelsea Rose Seafood

Port Dock 3, Newport

Also in Newport is Chelsea Rose Seafood, a multi-generational, family-owned market that specializes in local & sustainable seafood. Chinook salmon and Dungeness crab are available by the pound; they also offer salmon fillets and fresh black cod fillets that you can easily throw on the BBQ.

5. Krab Kettle

270 Hwy 101, Florence

Krab Kettle is a small, family-owned shop along Highway 101 in Florence. They have a wide selection of fresh, ocean-caught fare including shellfish, clam chowder, smoked fish, oysters, crabs, and shrimp.

They also have a fish case that showcases their premium wild king salmon and albacore tuna, as well as halibut, prawns, scallops, fresh oysters, manila clams, cod, and Oregon coast bay shrimp. Smoked salmon and whole Dungeness crab are available seasonally.

7. Fishermen’s Seafood Market

200 S Bayshore Dr, Coos Bay

Fishermen’s Seafood Market can be found floating under the boardwalk in Coos Bay. The family-owned market harvests their own clams and catches their own fish, and they buy from other local fishing boats as well.

West Coast Clams are their specialty; they also serve baskets with fish & chips, prawns, and oysters, clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, albacore tuna sandwiches and more. A fresh fish case is also available if you would rather take it home and cook for yourself.

8. Chuck’s Seafood

91135 Cape Arago Hwy, Coos Bay

Chuck’s Seafood is a long-standing market since 1953. Everything from oyster and crab to shrimp and tuna is sold either raw or prepared, as well as a wide selection of products (also available to purchase online) such as spices, canned seafoods, jellies, and tools.

9. Northwest Wild Products

1335 Marine Drive, Astoria

In addition to seafood, Northwest Wild Products also offers exotic meats, prepared dishes, bait, custom fillets, and vacuum packaging services. Stop in for a bowl of chowder, made fresh daily, a seafood cocktail, oysters, fish & chips, grilled and seasoned fish, local Clatsop Beach razor clams, burgers, or even fried meats on a stick.

10. Ecola Seafoods Restaurant & Market

208 N Spruce St, Cannon Beach

Ecola Seafoods, established in 1993, serves fresh seafood dishes, cocktails, as well as seafood to take home and cook. The owner Jay Beckman has been fishing the Oregon coast since 1977, mostly for salmon and tuna, and currently operates two vessels along the Pacific Coast to supply their market with the freshest catches. Some of their specialities include World Famous Salmon Jerky, homemade clam chowder, Willapa Bay oysters, and breaded razor clams.
