The Oregon Tech Men’s Baseball team dropped two games to Lewis-Clark State College in NAIA-West matchups Monday afternoon, losing 13-7 in the opening game and 10-4 in the second game. Oregon Tech record now 4-20, 0-8 NAIA-W.

The Hustlin’ Owls will travel to Caldwell, Idaho to take on College of Idaho next weekend, with NAIA-West games at 11:00 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday. The team will return for their home opener the following weekend March 21 & 22 against Corban University.

Meanwhile, Oregon Tech’s Krista Ward was named the Cascade Conference Red Lion Softball Player of the Week the conference office announced today.

The five-foot-seven freshman from Vacaville, Calif., hit an impressive .643 over the weekend with three home runs and eight RBI. She finished the week with nine hits, boasting a 1.357 slugging percentage, and two drawn walks. Ward also picked up two wins in the circle leading the Owls to a weekend sweep on the road at Carroll College.

The Lady Owls (12-9, 5-4 CCC) will next travel to Portland, Oregon to take on Warner Pacific University (11-10, 3-6 CCC) in back-to-back doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, with Friday’s games starting at 2:00 pm and Saturday’s games starting at 11:00 am.

Oregon’s Payton Pritchard was named Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Year on Monday.   The Oregon Ducks point guard took top honors on the all-Pac-12 awards, as voted on by the league’s men’s basketball coaches.

Pritchard led the No. 13 Ducks to the Pac-12 regular season championship while leading the conference in scoring (20.5 points) and assists (5.6) and also averaging 4.3 rebounds. The West Linn native is one of just three players nationally averaging 20 points, five assists and four rebounds per game.

Jim Zalesky, Oregon State’s wrestling coach since 2006, was dismissed Monday by the school.

Oregon State finished fourth in the Pac-12 Championship meet last Saturday. The Beavers haven’t won a conference title since 2016.   Under Zalesky, Oregon State won seven conference team titles and 33 individual championships. The Beavers were 147-75-2 in dual meets during Zalesky’s tenure.   During the recent Pac-12s, Devan Turner (133 pounds) took first and Grant Willits (141) second place.
