Since Ford came out with the iconic Model T in 1925, America has had a love affair with pickups in general, and Ford pickups in particular.
And out of all the Ford pickups introduced over the year, the 2020 F-150 is the undisputed king. It’s the country’s best-selling pickup, with more than 40 million sold over the past 60 years. Car and Driver’s favorite is the mid-level Lariar SuperCrew with the larger cargo bed, a 325-hp twin-turbo V-6 (upgrade to the 375-hp version for not much more), optional all-wheel drive, standout standard features such as a leather-trimmed front bench with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated and cooled front seats. All models also have a panoramic sunroof and extremely roomy back seats
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the F-150 one of the safest pickups on the market and optional safety features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology and lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. The F-150 can be equipped with almost every advanced safety system available on passenger cars, plus a clever driver aid that makes the confusing work of backing up a trailer as easy as twisting a knob.
