173rd FW to conduct flyovers for Independence Day celebrations
The 173rd Fighter Wing out of Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Ore. will conduct Independence Day flyovers for ceremonies at locations throughout Oregon and California.
F-15 Eagle fighter jets are scheduled to conduct flyovers at the following community locations at, or around, the designated times on Thursday, July 4.
- 9:45 a.m. Central Point 4th of July Freedom Festival, Central Point, Ore.
- 10:00 a.m. Downtown Klamath Falls, Klamath Falls, Ore.
- 10:15 a.m. Downtown Ashland, Ashland, Ore.
- 10:45 a.m. City Hall Park, Dorris, Cal.
- 11:00 a.m. Main Street, Eagle Point, Ore.
- 11:15 a.m. Lake of the Woods, Klamath County, Ore.
- 11:30 a.m. Oregon Ave. – Main Street, Creswell, Ore.
All passes will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground level and about 400 mph airspeed. Flights could be canceled or times changed due to inclement weather or operational contingencies.
The Oregon Air National Guard has been an integral part of the nation’s air defense since 1941. The 173rd FW is home to the premier F-15C pilot training facility for the United States Air Force.

Join the Klamath Lake Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) on a kayak trip to the Williamson River Delta. TNC blew the levees over ten years ago, and the restoration response has been phenomenal! Extensive healthy wetlands, riparian buffers, amazing views of Mt. MONDAYS – Enjoy Malone Springs on the upper west side of the Klamath Marsh as we paddle along the Klamath Canoe Trail.
TUESDAYS – Enjoy the beautiful turquoise waters of Spring Creek located at Collier Memorial State Park.
WEDNESDAYS – Float the upper Wood River starting at Jackson F. Kimball State Park we float down the upper reaches to the Kimball Park day use area. 3-hour float. ( some experience needed).
THURSDAYS – Custom Scheduling.
FRIDAYS – Visit beautiful Harriman Springs Resort where we take you around the freshwater marsh of Upper Klamath Lake.
SATURDAYS – Tour the Wood River Wetlands starting at Petric Park we go through the wetlands to the Wood River then down to and through Agency Lake and back. 3-hour float.
SUNDAYS – Go down the Williamson River from Collier Memorial State Park into downtown Chiloquin. 3-hour float.
If you want to float a different stretch of river or lake on a different day of the week let us know. Custom trips are provided or if you want to go kayaking with your own group we’ll rent you the kayaks to do that too. And we will even shuttle you to a location and pick you up when you’re done.
