The Portland Trail Blazers got standout performances from their newest starters and a triple-double off the bench from Evan Turner to come away with a 132-122 victory versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Trail Blazers are now 49-28 overall, 20-19 on the road and finish a four-game road trip with a 3-1 record. The win also gives Portland the season series 3-1 versus Minnesota and pulls the Trail Blazers into a tie with the Rockets for third in the Western Conference standings.

For Mariner’s pitcher Félix Hernández, the drought ended Monday.

After not winning a game in the final three months of 2018, the veteran right-hander got his new year off on a better foot as the Mariners continued their early-season roll with a 6-3 victory over the Angels at T-Mobile Park.

Hernandez overcame four errors by his defense to open his 15th Major League season with a win, allowing seven hits and three runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Mariners showed once again that their offense was good enough to overcome other issues as they improved to 6-1, tied for the best start in franchise history with the 1984, ‘85 and ‘95 clubs.

One day after leading the Oregon women’s basketball team to its first Final Four appearance, UO junior guard Sabrina Ionescu on Monday was named a first-team all-American by The Associated Press.

The two-time Pac-12 player of the year, Ionescu also repeated as a first-team AP all-American as a junior. The national player of the year candidate is averaging 19.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game, and she has eight triple-doubles this season to extend her NCAA career record to 18.

Oregon advanced to the Final Four and will play Friday in Tampa, Fla., at 4 p.m. PT against Baylor.  Hear the game on Wynne Broadcasting’s CBS Sports Radio The Winner, 106.5FM and 1240AM.
