But her adult children have mixed feelings about their mom’s new romance, while also dealing with their own complicated issues. Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter films) also stars.

SEASON FINALE: THE WALKING DEAD (9p ET, ABC) — Season 10 was interrupted by the pandemic, so 6 months after the last episode, the highly anticipated finale finally airs tonight. The season finale will feature the return of Lauren Cohan as Maggie. The title “season finale” is a bit misleading, as an additional six episodes will air in early 2021.

SERIES PREMIERE: THE GOOD LORD BIRD (9p ET, Showtime) — This new 8-episode series, based on the historical fiction book of the same name, follows a group of Kansas freedom fighters, led by John Brown (Ethan Hawke, also the show’s creator), and a young slave who travel across the US in the 1850s in an effort to end slavery. Daveed Diggs, Orlando Jones, Wyatt Russell, Joshua Caleb Johnson, David Morse and Steve Zahn star.

BLACKISH (10p ET, ABC) — This 2-part special, the second half of which is animated, will follow the Johnsons as they navigate the upcoming election, with Junior (Marcus Scribner) as a first-time voter. The season premiere of the show will be Oct. 21.

PREMIERE: THE WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND (10p ET, AMC) — This spinoff, the third in The Walking Dead universe, is set in Nebraska 10 years after the zombie apocalypse, and focuses on the first generation to come of age in the changed world. Julia Ormond, Aliyah Royale and Nico Tortorella star.

PREMIERE: FIRST LADIES (10p ET, CNN) — This 6-part series explores the lives of First Ladies, including Jackie Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Eleanor Roosevelt, Lady Bird Johnson and Hillary Clinton. The series, narrated by Robin Wright begins with an episode focusing on the life and achievements of Michelle Obama.

PREMIERE: THE COMEDY STORE (10p ET, Showtime) — This 5-part documentary series delves into the history of L.A.’s famed comedy club, which over the past 47 years has launched the careers of a huge number of stars. It features never-before-seen footage and emotional interviews with some of the biggest names in comedy.

DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: A LIFE ON OUR PLANET (Netflix) — This documentary recounts the evolutionary history of life on Earth.

JENNIFER LOPEZ UNVEILS FIRST COACH HANDBAG FROM NEW COLLECTION 
Jennifer Lopez’s got a brand-new bag. She’s unveiled the first piece from her Coach X Jennifer Lopez collection: a reimagining of the brand’s iconic Hutton bag.  It’s made of pink and reddish-brown — described as “peony and oxblood” — colorblock calf leather, trimmed with snakeskin and finished with a hangtag and story patch with J-Lo’s signature.

According to Coach, the bag was “inspired by the values of authenticity and inclusivity that Coach and Lopez share.” You can put the bag on your holiday list now, at a cost of $495.

NETFLIX DROPS NEW TRAILER FOR ADAM SANDLER’S HALLOWEEN MOVIE _ Adam Sandler might’ve surprised a lot of viewers with his incredible role in Uncut Gems, which saw him in rare dramatic territory, but it seems that he’s ready to head back to his comedic roots as the actor’s next effort, Hubie Halloween, is hitting Netflix on October 7. On Wednesday Netflix delivered a new trailer for the horror-comedy. • VIDEO

70th ANNIVERSARY OF PEANUTS  Today.. (October 2) marks the 70th anniversary of Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. First launched in only seven papers, the strip’s last-ever new edition ran on February 13, 2000 the day after Schulz’s death.

USHER AND HIS GIRLFRIEND HAVE WELCOMED A BABY GIRL 
Usher and his girlfriend of two years, Jenn Goicoechea, have welcomed a baby girl. The little princess joins big brothers Usher V (12) and Naviyd Ely (11) from the singer’s previous marriage to Tameka Foster. The couple have named the girl Sovereign Bo Raymond.

KEVIN HART AND WIFE WELCOME BABY GIRL 
Kevin Hart is a dad again after welcoming his second child with wife Eniko Parrish. The 41-year-old actor and 36-year-old model confirmed the arrival of their daughter with a post of a quote on her Instagram page, reading, “9 months preparing to fall in love for a lifetime.” Eniko confirmed the couple had named the tot Kaori Mai Hart and that she’d given birth on Tuesday.

SHOWTIME RENEWS BILLIONS FOR SEASON 6 
Showtime has renewed Billions for Season 6. The network also announced that the five remaining episodes from Season 5, which were impacted by the coronavirus shutdown, will air next year.

DWAYNE JOHNSON ANNOUNCES THE XFL’S RETURN IN 2022 
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and business partner Dany Garcia announced via video Thursday that the XFL will return in 2022. • VIDEO

CHADWICK BOSEMAN’S FINAL FILM WILL DEBUT IN DECEMBER 
The final film from Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman will debut on Netflix in December. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom will premiere on December 18. The film also stars Viola Davis. Boseman died of cancer in August at the age of 43.

Actor CHRIS HEMSWORTH WILL STAR IN SPIDERHEAD FOR NETFLIX 
Netflix’s Spiderhead has just assembled a noteworthy cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett. The story is “set in the near future, when convicts are offered the chance to volunteer as medical subjects in hopes of shortening their sentences. The focus is on two prisoners who become the test patients for emotion-altering drugs that force the prisoners to grapple with their pasts in a facility run by a brilliant visionary who supervises the program.” It’s an adaptation of the George Saunders short story Escape from Spiderhead.

KELLY CLARKSON BEING SUED BY HER MANAGEMENT COMPANY 
Kelly Clarkson is being sued by her management company over alleged unpaid commissions. According to the lawsuit filed by Starstruck Management Group the singer, The Voice coach and talk show host owes more than $1 million in unpaid commission. Variety reports that the suit claims Clarkson has paid Starstruck $1.9 million in commission for her television work in 2020, but still owes the company $1.4 million, and will owe at least $5.4 million by the end of the year. The lawsuit claims, therefore, she has breached an oral contract.

LION KING FOLLOW-UP MOVIE 
A new Lion King film is in the works. The original Lion King animated film, which premiered in 1994, grossed $968.5 million worldwide. The 2019 live action Lion King earned $1.65 billion worldwide. According to sources the next movie is likely to explore “the mythology of the characters, including Mufasa’s origin story.” No release date for the new film has been announced.

FIRESTARTER REMAKE WILL STAR ZAC EFRON 
The remake of Stephen King‘s Firestarter will star Zac Efron. There’s no indication of who Efron is playing, but it’s safe to assume he’s not going to play protagonist Charlie McGee, a little girl with the powers of pyrokinesis.

… Published in 1980, Firestarter was previously adapted into a not very good 1984 movie starring Drew Barrymore.

DISNEY+ ROLLS OUT ITS GROUPWATCH FEATURE
The theme parks in California are closed but Disney+ is keeping us entertained and has just rolled out a feature called GroupWatch, designed to let users watch their shows and movies together without having to use third-party software. So if you’ve been dying to have that Disney watch party with your friends, but want to keep a responsible social distance, now you can do that. GroupWatch allows up to seven users to watch at once, provided they all have Disney+ subscriptions. Users can control pausing, rewinding, or fast-forwarding for the rest of the party. Users can react to what they’re watching with six different emoji.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER AND JACKIE CHAN SQUARE OFF 
If two of the actors you’re missing by not going to theaters during the pandemic are Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger you’re in luck as Iron Mask is coming to video on demand on November 20. Iron Mask was actually released in the United States and United Kingdom in April of this year, where it swiftly vanished without a trace. It debuted in China in August where it also bombed, but Iron Mask is finally coming to digital and VOD in November. • VIDEO

GERARD BUTLER’S NEW MOVIE WILL SKIP THEATERS
Over the last decade, Gerard Butler has carved out a solid niche for himself as one of the biggest stars in the B-level action movie realm. Films like the Fallen trilogy, Geostorm, Den of Thieves and Hunter Killer aren’t designed for awards season glory, but the actor is always a reliably gruff presence in roles that don’t ask much more from him than furrowing his brow and punching bad guys in the face.

… Due to the pandemic Butler’s latest film won’t be coming to theaters, but it will be released to Amazon Prime video and for rental on October 27. The film is Greenland, which follows a family man who tries to keep his wife and son free from harm on a cross country journey to reach the safety of Greenland’s impenetrable bunkers after scientists discover that a comet is on a direct collision course with Earth.  Greenland was originally scheduled to hit theaters in June.

CHADWICK BOSEMAN DONATED PART OF HIS SALARY TO CO-STAR SIENNA MILLER 
One month after his passing, stories of Chadwick Boseman’s generous spirit continue to come to light. Sienna Miller, who co-starred opposite the late actor in the 2019 action-thriller 21 Bridges, reveals in a new interview with Empire that Boseman donated part of his salary to her.

Miller shares: “This was a pretty big-budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to. And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I’m compensated in the right way.’ And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for. He said that that was what I deserved to be paid.” Miller who calls the gesture “the most astounding thing” she’d ever experienced during her Hollywood career.

… Boseman passed away on August 28 at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer.

EVAN RACHEL WOOD DETAILS WHY SHE QUIT TWITTER 
Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood is revealing why she quit Twitter earlier this year. The TV star says she couldn’t tweet anything without tabloids running with it and turning her words into dramatic headlines. She shares: “It would be like, ‘Evan Rachel Wood goes on a rant!’ or ‘Evan Rachel Wood attacks this person!’ Honestly, I think [quitting Twitter is] one of the best decisions I ever made. Really.” Wood says she deactivated her account so that the headlines wouldn’t distract her from her work.

AMANDA SEYFRIED GIVES BIRTH TO HER SECOND CHILD 
Amanda Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, recently welcomed a baby boy to their growing family. An Instagram post shared on Monday by War Child USA — the organization that Amanda and Thomas are ambassadors for — revealed the couple’s good news. Their statement read: “Since the birth of our daughter 3 years ago our commitment to the innocent children that are so brutally affected by conflict and war has been a driving force in our lives. With the birth of our son the work of INARA and War Child has become our North Star.”

NETFLIX MIGHT BE RAISING ITS SUBSCRIPTION PRICES SOON 
Netflix has enjoyed a pretty successful year, from its leadership on the streaming charts to the sheer amount of money that the service continues to rake in. An analyst is now predicting that the platform could be preparing to raise its prices in North America and Europe. According to Alex Giaimo the evidence for Netflix’s future plans came in the company’s July second quarter earnings call, and a shift in language from management compared to the previous message in April. Giaimo had this to say on the subject: “In (the first quarter) Netflix said that they were ‘not even thinking about price increases,’ while the (second quarter) language was more open-ended.”

NETFLIX HAS REPORTEDLY RENEWED 3 ORIGINAL TV SHOWS
Netflix has reportedly renewed three of its original shows: Locke & Key (for a third season), Away, and Dash & Lily (second seasons).

Locke & Key is a supernatural horror show. Hilary Swank is in Away, which follows the tribulations of a female astronaut and her family that she’s forced to leave behind for an important mission to space. Dash & Lily hasn’t even released its first season yet, but it appears that Netflix is expecting good things from this tale of two lovers who pass a notebook back and forth throughout New York City.

HUGH JACKMAN TOOK IT ALL OFF (EXCEPT FOR THE BOOTS) IN A NEW AD 
Because 2020 hasn’t been strange enough, Hugh Jackman appears in a new ad for R.M. Williams, which features the Wolverine actor wearing literally nothing but the British company’s boots. In the commercial, an ad exec tries to explain to a very naked Jackman that he took the company’s instructions to “only wear R.M. Williams” a bit too literally. Unfortunately, Jackman isn’t concerned at all that he’s giving away quite the show as he marvels at the boots while completely missing the point of the meeting. • VIDEO

IDRIS ELBA TO STAR IN SURVIVAL THRILLER 
Idris Elba will star in Beast, an upcoming survival thriller from Universal Pictures. Plot details for Beast are minimal besides it being in the vein of 2016’s The Shallows, but instead of sharks, a lion will apparently “be involved as the central antagonist.”

EVEL KNIEVEL’S SON SUES DISNEY OVER TOY STORY 4 CHARACTER 
Evel Knievel’s son is suing Disney over a daredevil character in the animated film Toy Story 4. Kelly Knievel has held the publicity rights to his father’s name since 1998. The federal trademark infringement lawsuit claims that Disney-owned Pixar did not ask permission to use his father’s likeness when creating the character Duke Caboom. Knievel is seeking damages of more than $300,000 over allegations including false endorsement and unjust enrichment. Kelly said: “Evel Knievel did not thrill millions around the world, break his bones and spill his blood just so Disney could make a bunch of money.” Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves in last year’s film, was a 1970s toy who rides a motorbike and is “Canada’s greatest stuntman.” An Evel Knievel toy was released in 1973 with a white helmet and jumpsuit, with a motorbike that could be propelled with a wind-up device. Disney and Pixar released a similar Duke Caboom toy along with Toy Story 4.

CONAN THE BARBARIAN TV SERIES IS IN THE WORKS AT NETFLIX _ Netflix is developing an epic live-action Conan the Barbarian series. Netflix’s stab at a Conan series comes nearly three years after Amazon was developing a Conan the Barbarian series.
