If you’re only sort-of a baseball fan, it’s the time of year to start paying attention. As of today (Friday) there are four teams left — and only two are going to the World Series.
Tonight is Game 1 of the National League Championship Series: National at the Cardinals (TBS).
… Saturday the Nationals are at the Cardinals for Game 2 while Game 1 of the American League Championship Series has the Yankees playing (Astros or Rays).
… Sunday will be Game 2 of the ALCS.
JOAQUIN PHOENIX SAYS HE’S ON BOARD FOR A POTENTIAL JOKER SEQUEL _ Joaquin Phoenix says he’s open to revisiting the character of Joker. Phoenix — who has never acted in a sequel — says he’s talked to director Todd Philips about “what else we can do with Joker that might be interesting.”
ROB GRONKOWSKI WILL BE FOX SPORTS BROADCASTER _ Rob Gronkowski is returning to the NFL — but not as a New England Patriot. The three-time Super Bowl champ will join Fox Sports’ broadcast booth as an expert analyst on Thursday Night Football. He’ll make his network debut during the pregame show before his former team takes on the New York Giants tomorrow night (Thursday, October 10).
ROD STEWART DUMPED LOVERS WITH PLANE TICKET ON THE BED _ In his new book, Elton John says his pal Rod Stewart used to dump his lovers by leaving a plane ticket on the bed when he wanted them to leave.
… Stewart has eight children with five different women and has been married to current wife Penny Lancaster for a dozen years. He says the secret to their marriage is: “We live in a very big house and we don’t bump into each other for hours on end.”
RYAN REYNOLDS AND WILL FERRELL MUSICAL A CHRISTMAS CAROL _ Apple has shelled out big bucks for A Christmas Carol, a new live-action musical based on the Charles Dickens classic to star Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Reynolds and Ferrell stand to make a staggering amounts as producers and stars, between $25 million and $30 million each.
… Reynolds scored a similar payday from Netflix for his upcoming movie Six Underground, for which he was reportedly paid $27 million.
TODD CHRISLEY AND WIFE JULIE CLEARED OF TAX EVASION CHARGE _ Todd and Julie Chrisley have been cleared of their state tax evasion charge in Georgia. The Georgia Department of Revenue agreed that the Chrisley Knows Best stars, who had been accused of evading nearly $2 million is state taxes between 2008 and 2016, had overpaid in four of those years. The couple owed nothing for four other years and had a net liability of less than $77,000 in overdue taxes for just one year of incorrect filing.
… Last week, the Chrisleys and Department of Revenue officials signed a settlement agreement that ultimately led to the end of a two-year investigation into the Chrisleys’ alleged state tax liabilities.
BACHELOR STAR HOSPITALIZED AFTER SEVERELY INJURING HIS FACE _ Bachelor lead Peter Weber was sent to the hospital following a face injury he suffered while playing golf on Monday. The ABC star has been in Costa Rica where he is scheduled to film season 24 of the series.
According to a RadarOnline.com, the 28-year-old was boozing on the golf course and went to step into a cart when he fell and split open his face. He sliced his face on two cocktail glasses he was carrying as he stepped into the vehicle. He received 22 stitches on his forehead after a two-hour drive to a hospital. The former Bachelorette hopeful underwent surgery once he arrived at the medical center. The hospital had a surgeon that specialized in his type of injuries.
… Peter’s edition of the Bachelor is set to premiere sometime in 2020. The Delta Airlines pilot was announced as the new lead in September 2019.

JONAS BROTHERS LOVE COORS LIGHT _ There are, like, a lot of perks for being a celebrity — like putting your face on the label of your favorite beer. The Jonas Brothers just recently achieved that last one by teaming up with their beer of choice, Coors Light, to release a limited-edition batch. Nick, Kevin, and Joe stopped at the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado, and helped to brew a brew of their very own Coors Light. The JoBros’ Coors won’t taste any different than your classic Coors Light, but you can crush one knowing it was made with the very talented hands of the Jonas Brothers.
DREW BARRYMORE DAYTIME TALK SHOW IS A GO AT CBS _ We knew Drew Barrymore shot a pilot in August for her own daytime talk show. Now we know it’s been picked up for a fall 2020 launch.
BEST ANIMATED MOVIES OF ALL TIME _ What’s the best animated movie of all time? If you said “Pixar!” you’re probably not far off, since the Disney-owned company has had a bunch of animated blockbusters. But, according to the website 24/7 Temp, a Pixar flick is not the best animated movie.
… To determine the best animated films of all time, 24/7 Tempo created an index based on each film’s Rotten Tomatoes average critic rating, Rotten Tomatoes average audience rating, and the Internet Movie Database average user rating. Each film needed to have at least 10,000 total user votes between IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes as well as 10 approved Tomatometer critic reviews.

TV JOURNALIST’S KIDS POP DURING LIVE TALK ABOUT MIDDLE EAST _ Kourtney Kube is a journalist for NBC News covering the Pentagon and national security issues. She is also a mother and one of her sons interrupted an interview live on MSNBC on Wednesday. Kube’s son walked up to the set as she was discussing Turkey and Syria. He reached up to grab his mother’s attention and was heard saying “Mommy!” Kube smiled and explained to viewers, “Excuse me, my kids are here. Live television,” before finishing the report. Note: Also on October 9, Kube was identified as one of two journalists to whom U.S. Defense Intelligence counter-terrorism analyst Kyle Frese allegedly leaked documents related to North Korea. • VIDEO
RIHANNA TURNED DOWN SUPER BOWL IN SOLIDARITY WITH COLIN KAEPERNICK _ Rihanna says she turned down the Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. Rihanna says, “I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”
LARRY KING HOME SELLING FOR $17 MILLION _ Larry King’s divorce from his seventh wife is real, and their house is for sale. Larry and Shawn Southwick have listed their massive Beverly Hills pad for $17 million. The now-estranged couple bought the 5-bed, Tuscan-style house in 2007 for just under $12 million. The property is 11,000 square feet and comes with a 2-bedroom guest house.
IF LOU REED SANG BABY SHARK _ Because not enough nine-year-olds are listening to Lou Reed, and because Baby Shark is so annoying… a ukulele band out of Springfield, Illinois has done a Lou Reed-sounding mashup of Baby Shark, Walk On The Wild Side, and the plot of the first Jaws movie. The band is called BB Ross and the Happy Accidents. • LISTEN
KEVIN HART IS BACK TO WORK _ Kevin Hart is on the road to recovery. Only a few weeks after the actor was seriously injured in a car accident in Los Angeles on September 1, he is already back at work and is assisting the Jumanji film team with promoting the film. Kevin experienced three spinal fractures from the accident, but is expected to make a full recovery. Kevin was released from the hospital on September 11.
JENNA DEWAN TO HOST FLIRTY DANCING BLIND-DATING REALITY SHOW _ Jenna Dewan has signed on to host Fox’s Flirty Dancing blind-dating reality show. The actress, dancer and former World of Dance host will preside over the series that pairs singles in a dance-based blind date. Flirty Dancing, based on a British show, premieres in the winter.
