It’s Medford at the top of the pack once again in State of Oregon American Legion Baseball Tournament here in Klamath Falls, after three days.

At the AAA state tournament at Kiger Stadium, Medford battled to a 4-3, surprise 8 inning, victory over league rival, the Eugene Challengers, to remain the only undefeated team in the tournament.

In elimination games yesterday, Salem Withnell defeated Beaverton 12-8 and Dallas eliminated Hillsboro, 7-4.

In action today, Eugene plays Salem in a 4pm contest, while Medford tangles with Dallas.

Medford must now lose twice in a row and only need win once to not win the state title for the sixth consecutive year.

Moments after the Mariners’ 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, veteran utility man Kristopher Negrón was exchanging hugs and handshakes from teammates after being told he was traded.

But the deal didn’t become official until late Sunday night when the Dodgers announced they’d acquired Negron for Minor League infielder Daniel Castro, who will report to Triple-A Tacoma for the Mariners.

Negron can play anywhere in the infield or outfield and has been filling in well in right field the past week with Domingo Santana limited by a strained right elbow, making several outstanding defensive plays, including a diving catch to rob Brandon Dixon leading off the second inning on Sunday.

But at 33, Negron’s future is limited, and the Mariners are looking to add prospects to their system.

The Portland Trail Blazers have announced their five-game 2019 NBA preseason schedule today, tipping-off Tuesday, Oct. 8, vs. the Denver Nuggets at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in celebration of the team’s 50th season of NBA basketball.

Portland continues its preseason home slate at the Moda Center on Oct. 10 vs. Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League, followed by a kids-themed game vs. the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 12, at 5 p.m.

The Trail Blazers will play back-to-back road games on Oct. 16 at the Utah Jazz and Oct. 17 at Denver to close out the preseason.
