Music To Our Ears: Klamath Union Orchestra Edition!

This year in KU Orchestra!

Wendy Savage transferred from Conger elementary to become the new Orchestra teacher at Klamath Union High School, although she will still teach a little during the week at the elementary school, her heart is with the violin and right now, the Orchestra is voting and planning on this year’s trip!

These tours happen every two years for Klamath Union Orchestra students. Previously,  Mr. Hakanson has had great success with taking the students to the San Francisco Bay area but Wendy Savage would like to expand the student's horizons with the possibility of some new experiences.

There is a possibility of three options this year for the students to vote on this coming Tuesday, September 12th.

  • London, Kent, and Cambridge UK (Last week of June 2018) Cost: approx $2800 (dependent on numbers)

  • Los Angeles, Tucson, Phoenix, Grand Canyon (April 19-23) $700

San Francisco or Seattle (April 19-22) $500

With any of the options, parents are welcome to chaperone on the trips.

On Monday, September 11, at 7pm are a KU Orchestra Parent Meeting and Dessert Social in the Choir room to answer questions about the tour options, discuss fundraising, and introduce the KU orchestra families to Wendy Savage.

The reason for the diverse set of tour choices is that Wendy herself grew up in a multi-national family and lived and played her instrument throughout England and Europe.  Her mission is to expose the KU Orchestra students to some of those wonderful experiences to broaden their horizons.

If there are any more questions before the meeting, please contact  Wendy Savage at savagew@kfalls.k12.or.us
