Our orchestra students performed in the District solo and ensemble festival on Saturday in Ashland and two KU students qualified to perform at the State competition in April. This is pretty exciting as only 5 students plus one ensemble TOTAL qualified (and our district includes Medford, Grants Pass, and Ashland)... so to have 2 from KU is exciting!

Jessica Reed captured first place on viola and Timothy Chen captured the 2nd place on violin. Both qualified for state.

A total of 14 orchestra students from KUHS plus 10 students from Ponderosa performed. Congratulations to all of these students. It takes a lot of extra work to and individual dedication to performing at this festival and we should be proud of all of them.

Do you ever wonder what it feels like to parachute into a forest fire? Join our guest speaker, Tiffen Theole, one of the first U.S. Forest Service's female smoke jumpers in the United States, for a free pizza lunch and career exploration. This event is today at lunch!
