KUHS Awarded $9,500 Nike School Innovation Fund Grant
Klamath Union High School is one of 100 Oregon schools awarded a grant from the Nike School Innovation Fund (NSIF) to expand the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program for the 2018-19 school year.
NSIF awarded a total of $950,000 in grants to 99 high schools and 1 middle school for the coming school year to help increase graduation rates, close the achievement gap and help students in Oregon prepare for future successes.
The Foundation, established in 2007, is a partnership between Nike and schools throughout Oregon with the intention of encouraging students to dream, giving them the tools they need to achieve those dreams and to reach their full potential.
This is the 4th year that KUHS has received this award. According to Charlene Herron, AVID program coordinator for the school district, “Partnership with Nike has enabled KU to send over 25 staff to three summer institute training in San Diego, Denver and Sacramento this summer. This has allowed us to expand AVID school-wide at KU and create an AVID-certified district”Edit Module
